
About James Butler
James R. "Jim" Butler was born and raised in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science , and from South Texas College of Law in 1992 with a Juris Doctor degree. Mr. Butler was licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas in 1993. During Law School his focus was Criminal Law and Trial Advocacy. After a two year internship with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Butler knew that his calling in life wasn't to prosecute people, but to help those in need of defense.
Mr. Butler chose to focus his practice on DWI defense. Mr. Butler became a Member of the National College of DWI defense. He is also Certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to administer and interpret the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Battery.
Mr. Butler is a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyer's Association, The Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Butler was voted an H-Houston Magazine "Lawyer for the People" in 2009.
Mr. Butler is an avid motorcyclist and is a member of, T.M.R.A., T.M.R.A 2, and the A.M.A.
Mr. Butler is a devoted husband and father of two children.
